Hawassa City Water Infrastructure Project study by SSGI
The Institute has completed and handed over the Hawassa City Water Infrastructure Spatial Database and Water Supply System Project.
On November 6, 2024, the Space Science and Geospatial Institute (SSGI) handed over the Water Utility Asset Management and Water Supply System Project to the Hawassa City Water Supply and Sewage Service Enterprise.
During the handover ceremony, the deputy director of SSGI, Mr. Belachew Tsehay, addressed the management and invited guests. He emphasized that the Institute supports decision-making institutions by collecting, organizing, and conducting problem-solving research using various space and geospatial technologies, in line with the government’s mandate.
Mr. Mr. Belachew further noted that the water infrastructure development and water supply analysis work conducted in Hawassa City has made a significant contribution to the sector, particularly in reducing resource wastage. He highlighted its importance for improving service efficiency and supporting the Smart City initiative.
In response, Mr. Dawit Lelamo, Chief of Hawassa City Water Supply and Sewage Service Enterprise, expressed his gratitude that the Institute chose Hawassa City for this project. He praised the initiative and was pleased to see the successful results.
