Satellite Operations

Satellite Operations involve a comprehensive approach to the research and development of satellites and associated technologies. The Satellite Operation Directorate primarily focuses on conducting research, development, and innovation in satellite operations, along with human capacity development in the sector. The directorate manages satellite operations throughout their lifecycle, providing critical telemetry, tracking, and command (TT&C) services for Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites.

Additionally, the directorate emphasizes mission optimization and the development of ground station systems for satellite constellation tasks. It is responsible for constructing state-of-the-art ground station facilities and services, which are essential for mission control systems and other components of the ground segment for both current and future missions. The team actively monitors and controls all in-orbit operations of satellites, ensuring effective oversight throughout their operational life.

The Satellite Operation Directorate also plays a crucial role in satellite data management. It collects satellite imagery archives and disseminates satellite data to various stakeholders, enhancing the accessibility of critical information. The team is dedicated to planning, building, and managing ground segments to support current and future missions, as well as developing ground control software that improves the capabilities of SSGI for providing TT&C and mission operations services.

In addition to these responsibilities, the directorate collaborates with partner agencies to coordinate satellite operations activities. This collaboration enhances the effectiveness of satellite management and ensures that best practices are shared across the industry.
