On September 23, 2025, the Space Science and Geospatial Institute, in partnership with FASESA (Future African Space Explorers System Academy) and BOENG company, selected trainees for a five-month program under the leadership motto “Journey to the Space” focused on space research activities.

The institute’s Deputy Director, Eng. Betelhem Nigusie, spoke about how over the past years the institute has provided various training programs in the field of space science for trainees, and expressed hope that today’s advanced trainees will subsequently bring their countries to a superior position in space science technology and research.

According to Mr. Zemene Nega, Director of Boeing Ethiopia, the purpose of the training is to enable trainees to receive comprehensive theoretical and practical training in space science.

Furthermore, FASESA Executive and Director Mr. Shian Jacobs explained that for the second time, under the motto “Journey to the space,” training was provided to 558 trainees in Ethiopia, Nigeria, and Kenya.

The training coordinator, Mr. Alazar Siyum, explained that the training covered space science research; using Immersive Virtual Reality Technology to simulate physically going into the space; controlling space ships through virtual flight; conducting journeys inside the space; facilitating interactions within the space; and other training related to space research.
